213-Up-Newman-Mississippian-Pound-Ga

213 Contact between the Lower Newman Formation and the Mississippian Upper Newman Limestone Formation including the Pencil Cave, Little Lime and in the distance, upslope the Stony Gap Member of the Upper Mississippian Pennington Formation. Using the measured Geological Section, Kentucky Geological Survey Field Trip Guide 1998 as a guide unit 88 is crumbly and runs upward to bench. Beneath is 89 which is 4 feet shale limestone poorly exposed. Beneath is 90 which is 14 feet thick, is dark brownish gray with layers of chert throughout, it runs down to 91 which is 2.5 to 3 feet of thinly bedded shaley packstones. 92 is 10 feet which runs down to next large bedding plane, with some tan in it. 93 runs down to next prominent bedding plane, and 94 is 32 feet which runs down to next plane which is seen further to the right in the picture, at the corner.
